As a child I was the kid who like the box his toy came in as much as the toy itself, and not just for the box to put on my head, although I was known for that too. I remember thinking how cool the art work was on the box for my G.I. Joe Helicopter with the illustrated art work showing G. I. Joe flying around in a rescue mission. The awesome art and design of the Hot Wheels packaging with the way-cool brightly colored letters and thick outline that made the Hot Wheels logo leap off the package. It is still in use to this day. Now that’s branding!

The graphic designers that created some of the most memorable designs were artist in their field such as Norman Rockwell who created magazine covers that told the story of a generation, and Andy Warhol who blurred the lines of fine art and graphic design. Remember such designs as the looped rainbow, or how about the simple yellow smiley face Harvey Ball created back in 1963 for an insurance company... They’re iconic and unforgettable to this day :-)

From a nice clean crisp looking logo (or smiley face) to an all-out, over-the-top poster or advertising piece, concepts and ideas are what continue to fuel my passion for great design to this day. I hope I too can create something that leaves a lasting impression for generations.
